Film & Explainers

Two minutes that explain everything

Every campaign has a lot of moving parts. The one people remember is usually a film.

Online audiences are flooded with content, messages and choices, and video is the format they're most likely to stop for, watch and share. We make animated explainers, short documentaries, interview films and social cuts that take complicated issues and make them clear, human and hard to ignore.

Why most organisational videos don't get watched

Too long. Too many messages. Filmed before anyone decided who it was for or where it would be seen. The result is a polished film with 300 views, most of them from staff.

A good explainer starts with one question the audience already has, and answers it better than anyone else.

How Parley is different

We're communicators first and film-makers second. Every script is written by people who understand your issue, your opponents' arguments and what a journalist or policymaker will pick apart. We plan distribution before a frame is shot, so the finished film has somewhere to go on the day it launches.

We produce in-house for animation and edit, and work with trusted camera crews in more than 20 countries for location filming.

Questions we’re often asked

How long should an explainer be?

Usually 90 seconds to two and a half minutes. Short enough to finish, long enough to make the case.

Can you film in difficult locations?

Yes, with proper risk assessment, local fixers and duty of care for crews and contributors. We'll tell you honestly when a location isn't safe.

How long does a project take?

A typical animated explainer takes four to six weeks from brief to delivery. Faster turnarounds are possible for rapid-response work.

Need to explain something complicated?

Most of our work starts with a quiet call before anything reaches the press. Tell us what's happening. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
